Honour Killing cases in Hoshairpur

A husband and wife from Hoshiarpur electrocuted their daughter and tried to burn her lover alive in an alleged case of honour killing.

While the girl died on the spot, the boy is currently fighting for life in a hospital.

The police informed that father of the girl, Sher Singh and his wife Paramjeet Kaur had to collect their daughter’s certificate from the Jammu University and were supposed to return home on Saturday but they returned early on Friday evening.

According to Dasuya police station’s SHO Balbir Singh, the boyfriend tried escaping on the arrival of the girl’s parents, but could not manage to do so and was spotted.

Another case of honour killings
In yet another suspected honour killing case at Mahilpur, also in Hoshiarpur district,was reported where a girl was murdered by her brother Munny Partap Kaushal, when he found about her involvement with some local boys.

Mahilpur SHO Prem Kumar revealed that the girl's father, Surinder Kaushal, had registered a FIR with the authorities, in which he claimed that his daughter had disappeared.

“During the interrogation, he [Kaushal] broke down and confessed his crime. He said that Kanchan was bringing a bad name to the family as she was going around with a couple of boys and therefore he killed her,” Kumar said.
