I think that will be done...taxes are going up. Social Security and Medicare are taxes, they are not some kind of insurance program which the snake salesmen sold it as. But in return for a tax and increasing taxes, guess what, people demand something in return. Raising the retirement age to say 72, the life expectancy of a man, isn't returning anything of value for the tax. At that point, it's a scam, and in this case the scam is the familiar Ponzi scheme. At the top of the pyramid, one of the first recipients of SS paid in $25 and that investment paid off handsomely at 20 some thousand dollars. Today at the bottom of the pyramid an investment of $25 will yield about $1, that's a loss of $24.
