I had lunch the other day with a woman I hadn't seen in a couple of years. Her husband is very ill. He has battled bipolar disorder off and on for 50 years. They are snowbirds and he didn't have a doctor here when he fell down the rabbit hole. She struggled to find him a doctor who would take Medicare. When they arrived for his first appt, she overheard the receptionist telling someone on the phone that the doctor didn't take Medicare patients so she asked what was up. The receptionist told her that her husband got in just under the wire--he was the very last.
