I don't see any concern for the children there, koan.

"Women can give birth now with little fear of dying."

I take it they are not part of the equation in the lefty world.

Begs a little clarification ...

There is reason and experiment and reasoning based on these. Science is a great pursuit with many benefits. Don't get me wrong ...

What I disdain is when individuals reverence science without understanding it -- as though it were some kind of revelation. I am thinking of two primary examples -- one I'll leave alone in favor of a more current topic:

I suppose if I were to poll the biology instructors where I teach, most would readily admit that global warming (including the attendant purported cause-effect relationship) to be an "established scientific fact."

Now if I were to ask them to describe the scientific basis for the cause-effect relationship they "believe," most would not be able to articulate the theory. Some might even be dismissive with something to the effect that "climate scientists" agree ... blah, blah, blah. This is what I mean by worship. Something accepted as being true by someone with no underlying basis known by them personally.

Copernicus had a champion in Gallileo -- not because so many scientists agreed that Copernicus must be right -- but rather because Gallileo comprehended what Copernicus said and he looked at how it fit with observation -- but again, this was against the majority thinking at the time.

This is very different from so many who pontificate based on things they do not understand or try to misapply what they think they "know" -- but the untrained and unlearned are easily led -- witness the unscientific (i.e. religious) writings of the likes of Richard Dawkins ... which is masqueraded as science.
