It is true that the income tax and the alternative minimum tax began as taxes on the "rich". And became taxes on the middle class as well. The ATM has been adjusted what, 8 times? Get over it. At least it was put in place to pay for a war ... not allowing a couple of wars to go on the national visa card. The mega-wealthy have a much greater ability to shift income in both time and location and defer recognition. What percent of total taxes do the top 5% pay?
