Also one of the very best ways to judge over-valuations / under-valuations between various countries' currencies... as MacDonalds has standardized it's products globally (same ingredients go into Big Mac or fries whether in Russia or China or Brazil...) and also does as much LOCAL SOURCING of it's ingredients as is possible (so reflects prevailing local pricing levels when it sets local product's prices). Governments can fudge a lot of such statistics... but the Big Mac index is pretty transparent. Good 'quick and dirty' measure of currencies.
