One of the first two stocks I tried. I bought 10, count them, 10 shares of a small co. while I was in my first year in the Army in Monterey at Language School. It cost $40 per share plus an $86 minimum commission. Don't laugh. My salary was $120 a month as a PFC. It was called Medtronic. My broker was Walston & Co., later bought by Ross Perot and later bankrupt and saved by Merrill Lynch. I never feared for Medtronic, but I lived constantly in fear that my broker would go broke. <G> Ampex was the other one. If I'd only bought Ampex, I would be 100% in bank CDs today. <VBG>
