You are pretending that if the federal government were any smaller than it is, that would be the equivalent of turning the US into Haiti.

No I'm not. I'm "pretending" that cutting services has consequences, most times bad consequences. The things that government does didn't happen by accident ... there was a perceived need.

BTW separating the Federal government and private companies is getting harder every day. The government employs far more people through contracting than it has direct employees.
