BTW you still didn't answer on which government was better than the hated US Federal government. Here are 203 choices:

read the US Constitution. That's the government that I want. Not the nanny state socialist crap that you love so much.

RE:Most prosperous country on earth.

You think the US is the most prosperous country on Earth? Maybe in the 50's. Since the ascension of the welfare state, it has been dropping rapidly.

Our federal government is almost bankrupt and will be soon if spending is not reversed. We are heading for 1 million foreclosures in 2010(thank you Frank, Dodd, CRA and ACORN). We have almost 20% U6 unemployment/underemployment.

The rapid move to Socialism is just exacerbating these problems...

Well you are out of luck on the enmeshed part. Virtually everything you touch every day is regulated by government. Everything you eat, drink, wear, every machine or item you touch, everything, is regulated and taxed by government. Even your personal behavior is regulated by a library full of laws.

Yes, you are correct. The government has become a pervasive force in every aspect of our lives. You have stated quite effectively that the U.S.A. no longer has a free market capitalist economy. The "failure of capitalism" that the liberals used as a catchphrase in the past two years is really a failure of government interventionalism.

And it all works pretty damn well. Most prosperous country on earth.

That statement is like saying someone is wealthy after he has taken a second mortgage out on his home and maxed out his credit cards and borrows a bunch of money from his friends. And then goes out on a shopping spree for luxury items. Sure he's got money and stuff now, but he has to pay all that money back sometime in the future.

BTW you still didn't answer on which government was better than the hated US Federal government.

You know, if you are going to make up lies about me, you might as well go for the liberal mantra of "you're a racist". False accusations of racism are all the rage with your buddies in the mainstream media. The "you hate the US Federal Government" accusation is so passe'.

Most prosperous country on earth.

Use to be but not any more. Several countries have crawled ahead of the US in virtually every category - even in income and especially in the happiness of the people. We also use to be the major lending nation and now we are the major borrowing country.

But back to politics of energy; Obama administration is giving Duke Energy and Areva (huge french company) 70 million to build a biomass electric generator in my home town. 70 million outright gift of your tax payer dollars for a energy plant in an area that needs no additional electricity. I voted for Obama but this crap just makes me furious! Do something for the people NOT Duke power.
