The US didn't become wealthy and powerful because wise government planners told everyone how to run their business and personal affairs ..... right down to telling people what kind of light bulbs to use now.

That was a part of it. An abundance of natural resources helped a lot.


Free enterprise? A legal system that recognized and protected private property and contracts?

No, you really do think our wealth and prosperity comes from wise government planners who know how we should run our lives and our businesses and we should all just give up this freedom thing and let the all wise government planners plan our lives for us.

Seriously, if government planning worked, the USSR would have buried us and the Cuban navy would be intercepting poor Americans trying to get to the country by raft.
