Yeah, the illegal lobby has had a field day the last couple of days here. To be honest, nothing has changed. Prior to SB 1070 cops were able to phone ICE for deportations if someone they actually arrested was involved. They still do it. One interesting thing left not injoined was the ability to sue municipalities that don't enforce immigration laws by not turning illegals over. That was directly leveled at "Sancturary cities". That part will be interesting.

I saw some of the CNN coverage last night. The part with Soledad O'Brien patrolling with an Hispanic Tucson cop was interesting. The cop was in favor of SB 1070, mainly because he was frustrated that the government wasn't doing enough. Hard to play the "racist" card on that guy, and she seemed to get it. The borders need a much bigger effort at control. If it meant doubling or tripling the size of the BP forces that would be a big improvement because those guys are effective if overmanned.

Ilegals aren't terrorists (I hope) and aren't lazy. But they are expensive and a huge fiscal burden on the border states. If O wants to toss us 4 billion a year to "look the other way" and pay for that burden, we might make a deal (but it would still be a temporary fix). OTW he and the BP and ICE need to all do their freaking jobs, provide for the common defense as the preamble to the Constitution says.
