Anyway, an tooth implant isn't so much a medical procedure as a dental procedure so I'm not too worried. But I will ask around if I go down there what the story is on the purely medical side. One thing I note is that the last year the WHO ranked health care systems(in 2000) on a country by country basis the USA came in 37th and Costa Rica 36th. Just from surfing the web it seems that the most common surgery - gall bladder removal - costs only $4,500 to $6,000 in Costa Rica. Given that I got charged $30,000 just back in March for the same thing in the good ol' U.S. of A., that's not a bad deal! Wish I could buy stocks at that discount somewhere. <g> Back in the day I did had a medical problem down there. My back went out on me in such a way I couldn't even fly in order to return to work in Norway. There was nothing much they could do down there for me(nor here had it happened in the USA), but what they could do they did well enough - and cheap enough, that's for sure. I eventually did a Hail Maria and went to an acupuncturist down there for a $30 fee. He did something that seemed to bring the pain level down a few notches. The outcome was nothing dramatic, but worth the price, for sure. craig
