Yes, 200 MA is close as well. What happened to gold in 2008
was rare, a sharp drop in September.

Gold is now in part (large part) trading as an asset,
not a commodity.

Some call this phenomenon a gold bubble. However, gold often
does that for a number of years, with enormous gains during
that period. At least, it did that in the past. Gold bulls
call it "second, final leg up" of gold secular bull, which
should result in a lot more gains %-wise. Where it ends is
unclear, but analysis based on jewelry demand obviously becomes
meaningless in this phase.
