It was Raygun and the neo cons that started dismantling the middle class in 1980 by busting unions, protecting businesses that hired illegal's e.g. in slaughter houses, for slave wages, and exporting jobs.

In 1980 unions were 35% of the work force, today it is about 6%.

Raygun started his assult on the unions by smashing the air traffic controllers. I remember when the air traffic controllers went on strike saying to myself:"Huge mistake", because I spent 30 years in politics and knew he was looking to make an example of them.

He smashed them without mercy.

Everything is born by the middle class these days. Every single friggin problem. If the tea party stayed focused on that instead of all the fringe righty stuff they spin off too, they'd have a real shot.
