>>I believe two and an half hours" - Actually it's only one hour and some minutes. From apple.com:
10:00 a.m. CHECK-IN and registration
11:00 a.m. EVENT BEGINS (still photography
permitted during the first 2 minutes)
12:15 p.m. PRESS Q&A (lunch will be provided)
<<

On Nov 10th 1997 Apple will introduce TimeDoubler (tm)...

"Built into every G3 Powerbooks, busy laptop users will be glad to find that the amount of time they have is essentially doubled. A demonstration of TimeDoubler (tm) technology will be given during the 1hour 15min...well 2hr 30min conference Monday.

TimeDoubler will also be available on new eMates. Sales of the new eMate is expected to be brisk on college campus. Students who procrastinate won't have to turn another paper in late.

On a side note only one lunch will be provided during the conference. FoodDoubler (tm) technology, currently still in develpment, won't make its debut until Feb of 1998 when PowerExpress line of Macintosh is introduced."

And you'll see why 1997 won't be like 1997....<g>

Not to mention about one hour and something, actually, 20-30 minutes
will be long enough to announce key break-out news. The rest of time
will naturally be used to fill up the issues and answers regarding
those news. Hence, 2.5 hours are the time frame for readers to
understand the whole details for the announcement.
