She objected to the support of Tom Emmer for Gov because he is against gay marriage and she has gay family members.

I think that groups on both sides base their politics on a single emotional issue. I personally think that the federal government shouldn't have an opinion on who marries whom. Marriage is a religious institution and therefore should be handled by the religious institutions. All the government should care about is the legal aspects of a partnership. I think that the gay marriage issue is one that will work itself out in time. I think that pro-business politicians are critical to the survival of this nation and it is an issue that is far more important to every citizen than gay marriage.

I would support Tom Emmer too. I don't agree with him on some issues, but I guarantee that I agree with more of his views than I would the progressive candidate.
