Patrick,
You touched on perhaps the most simplistic ,yet very accurate "tool"
to determine a trend. You need higher highs and higher lows to show an uptrend. We have not had that since September into the first part of October. This market started a pull-back before all the media coverage
of the Asian-flu. For the last three days the Dow had lower highs and lower lows. I held my oex puts over the weekend, despite the fact of the time/premium pressure, because I think this market will go lower.
BWDIK..if I was really smart...I'd be really rich! NOT! :(
Good luck,
Barbara

Patrick, Bull markets are periods of distribution. Bear markets are periods when stocks return to their 'rightful owners'.
Unless you are trading futures, you might forget the macro stuff and instead go to the balance sheets and price charts. IMHO
Good hunting, Chris
