Conservatives think for themselves. Trotting out quotes from some Republican who lost an election (Inglis) or some blogger or pundit (professorbainbridge, John Fund, or some Klinghoffer guy) doesn't mean anything to us. We don't have opinion leaders who tell us what to think. We don't read the American Spectator or IBD and adopt what they tell us to like some liberals do with the NYT or talkingpointsmemo. We take others opinions and decide if we agree with them or we don't. When you guys quote "authority figures" to us, you are really misunderstanding conservatives.
