I like the Founders' objective in trying to balance out political swings with a Supreme Court that changed very slowly. I don't know that I'd want to eliminate life terms on the SCOTUS, but I'd sure like to see more rigorous constitution-based challenge to nominees.

The appointments over the last few decades seem to have plenty of partisan challenge, but the attacks have had little to do with how well the nominee would cleave to the Constitution. To me, that is the only issue.

Maybe a twenty year term for SCOTUS instead of life, but ten is too short in my opinion.
