john, I have research that says that dealers make 10-14% on the low cost.
I think cpq makes just as much.
cpq doesn't mfg'er the sub800 pc.
FIC does , so it's a purchased part that cpq helpa mat'l logistics, designs, gives FIC their purchasing power volumes if needed.

cpq has a huge high end prodcut line that dwarfs what dell sells..
and from what dell is doing, always will.
people pay 100-300k for a cpq server and think nothing of it.

most the erp stks I wouldn't touch..the erp s/w for biggies is too complex and takes a real systmes power to implement and takes to long.
cpq started working on their new ERP in 1992. I was a team member, but left in 1993.

Paul Wick says he sold all of his DELL - the stock is up 100% since then!. So how much faith you would put in his analysis? By the way his fund was absolutely bludgeoned during the nov-apr fall out of networkers like ASND, FORE etc. If CPQ is not making any money off their low-cost pcs, how come their revenues and earnings show a consistent climb?
