As well he should since he deserves some of the credit.
Ford wisely (luckily?) took out a large line of credit before the sudden, unexpected crash in car sales and had funds to get itself thru the crisis. The Fusion and Edge certainly also did help. But they know the major problems (disaster?) they and their supplier organization avoided if GM and Chrysler had abruptly declared bankruptcy.

The auto bailout and cash for clunkers program saved GM and Chrysler and millions of jobs and many, many small businesses across the USA and Ford and its workers, dealers and suppliers know they benefited from it.

A vital industry to our country was given a second chance by the Obama administration and we all should hope it works out.
