take farming for example. indians used to plant crops by hand. that was their labor. each individual could plant 1 unit of seeds.

then the hoe was introduced and suddenly everyone could plant 2 units of seeds.

then farm equipment let one farmer plant 100 units of seeds (or maybe many more i don't know).

but you get the idea. the more efficient the labor, the more it can get done. the more it can get done, the more value it has.

the increased efficiency of labor is of value to both the employer and to the employee. both get more per unit of labor. to get someone that is skilled running a tractor, the farmer is willing to pay more.

an increase in labor efficiency is of higher value to both the employer and the employee, and both benefit from it.
