Blatant lying about Carter is one of the corners the left have painted themselves into.

Economically, it was the best it had been since WW II.

Repeat. I was alive then, an adult paying attention to the world and it was horrible period economically. So I was an eyewitness. This shows the misery index by year from 1948 to 2009.

I was talking about the fiscal health of the country:

The Communism peaked somewhere between the 1930s and the 1950s.

Wrong again. Indochina went communist in the 1970's. Communist regimes took over a bunch of African countries at the time .... Angola, Mozambique, Rhodesia, Ethiopia ... Russian and Cuban troops were waging wars all over that continent. A Communist regime took Nicaragua, there were communist insurgencies all over latin America, even southern Mexico. It looked like Portugal, Spain, Italy, and France were in danger of going communist in the 1970's. Again there were Communist terror groups operating in Italy and Germany like the Red Brigades.

Its extraordinary the change that took place in the 1980's.

And don't forget Dukakis ran for president. Why is it you guys always need an enemy to freak you out?

I just realized what's wrong with this chart. It doesn't measure deflation; just inflation. Most economist will tell you that deflation is much worse than inflation. And last year, we had nearly 9 mos of deflation.
