In sum, the Chinese may be purchasing their homes with 30% down. But as the author explains, as their homes have appreciated in value, they have borrow against that appreciation and RE-LENT the funds to "shark loan" operations that are paying far higher interest rates.

It's apparently a very large series of Ponzi schemes, of which a few have already collapsed.

I find the debate to be very interesting.
