The Taliban is executing informants

The US should execute informants.

The person who leaked the documents to wikileaks should get a swift trial. And if found guilty, he should be executed just as swiftly. This isn't just an embarrassing moment for politicians. The person who leaked those documents is potentially responsible for hundreds of deaths.

The best way to deal with wikileaks is to cut off the flow of information.

In an insurgency, our enemies do not have to persuade the civilian population to join their side to prevail -- they simply need to intimidate the population enough to ensure that they do not join our side.

Same thing applies here. Make the potential leakers weigh whether the repercussions are more severe than they really want to deal with.

I think we have a big problem at the higher levels of command. Recent incidents:

1) Major Hasan was well-known for his Soldier of Allah habits, yet he was tolerated in a position of trust until he murdered people in Ft. Hood.

2) This Manning character was allowed access to sensitive materials and was tolerated in a position of trust until he leaked 70,000 pages to a scumbag blogger.

These people are known, but they are tolerated in the name of multiculturalism, don't ask don't tell, or some other attribute that has NOTHING to do with defense readiness. They are tolerated because the brass are afraid to expose them for fear of having charges brought against them. There is reason for this fear, yes, but it is unacceptable.

Military officers should not be afraid to rock the boat, in my opinion. They should be encouraged to take the risk, shoot straight, and TELL THE TRUTH.
