If the Rockies were made of limestone, they wouldn't be there.
I like to take it for granite that there must be something harder holding them up.
It is a well known fact that atmospheric CO2 was far more abundant in the prehistoric past.
In time with the aid of gentle rain it settled down to earth.

PS - the Rockies we see now are not the Rockies that were there a hundred million years ago, but after reaching the greatest heights,
they lost their pitching, and ended up the Rockies of today.
