>>Pundits jumped on Mr. Wilder's comments and expressed near-universal approval. On his syndicated national show, Chris Matthews of MSNBC assembled a panel to discuss the Wilder intervention. Howard Fineman of Newsweek, a longtime Hillary watcher, said Mrs. Clinton would accept a place on the 2012 ticket "in a second." John Heilemann, a reporter New York magazine, said the major obstacle would be to "figure out a way for Biden to slide aside happily" and suggested that Mr. Biden replace Mrs. Clinton as Secretary of State.<<

What utter nonsense. Pundits expressed near-univeral approval? What pundits?

If Biden is too gaffe-prone to be VP, what kind of demented maniac would suggest making him Secretary of State? Who is this Heilemann, and why is he off his meds?

I see no evidence that there is any real interest in this idea, outside of the minds of a few people who have to fill time on talk shows.

Paul, this is about as relevant and important a topic as the way the Obamas chose to spend their time on the President's birthday. By now, you probably know that Michelle flew back from Spain on the actual day so that she could join the party, so I'm assuming we can stop discussing that.

Ah, now you're posting John Fund's thoughts about the Dems with a straight face. Fund hates, absolutely hates, the very ground on which the Dem party does anything. Anything at all. And can't be trusted to keep a single fact, let alone factoid (wonderful Norman Mailer thought) straight.

As for Heilemann and Fineman, my guess is the quotes were taken out of context. Just throwing thoughts around the table.

A waste of space to even entertain it, let alone for the wsj to publish it. But then they really don't care about the reputation for their op ed page.

Insiders tell me Hillary is heading to Veep, Michelle is going to be the new Secretary of State, and Biden is slotted in as First Lady. Morgul will remain be the Friendly Drelb. They are still hoping to find a pinch runner before the play-offs. If they can't find one, Judd Gregg becomes a free agent in Jan.
