CK: Here's a try at a template for Congress:

Dear Senator: I am one of a growing number of concerned citizens
here in the US researching and discussing the implications of
the Year 2000 Millenium Computer crisis. This "simple" problem
affects all aspects of our society today and represents a threat
to our security if not successfully addressed and remedied. These
problems include but are not limited to:

Aviation Safety
Utility Safety and Delivery
Railroad Transit and Operations
GPS systems
Financial IT systems
Hospital systems
Embedded Systems on Factory Floors
Military Communications and Strategies

In short, the "Millenium Bug" penetrates the core of our Society
and represents a danger to our economic recovery, the stability
of our financial relationships with other countries, the security
of jobs, and the welfare of our fellow citizens. Please join
Senator Bennett in bringing the Year 2000 Issue to the attention
of all Americans and the world.
