I bought a cheap mac laptop a couple of years ago -- at a few points I regretted it -- then I got on a job where I needed to do some coding -- Perl was preloaded -- had other scripting support that made my project a breeze.

It doesn't crash on me and I've worked with some pretty large files -- so I'm not complaining. The only thing that I haven't got figured out yet -- is how to make it talk to the windows network here -- any ideas?
