on the sunny side - a followup to the article on food deserts, which was the second in a few weeks in our paper, Good Morning Alabama just did a long piece with the writer of the article and a guy from the Main Street Birmingham group. perhaps this is all happening independantly, and it is something some folks have been working on and trying to bring attention to, but that Michelle Obama has made this a part of her focus on food can't but help. I really like what she is doing with it.

And on a practical level, since many health issues are a result of not eating well, and often not having many options to actually eat well... it's good for everyone if we work on it in terms of national healthcare costs, and worker productivity costs.

We hear a lot of "doom and gloom" from the Republicans and the "professional left" who claim that Obama is not doing things he said he would during the campaign. Here is news for them: sure signs of revival of the US auto industry. something that Obama needs to take with him during the campaign for November.

Trust me, they will find a way to spin it in a negative way. The Rs want things bad so they can win in November. The Dems......I don't get. They seem to want to cut off their noses to spite their faces. An approach to life I have never understood.
