Gary: It also depends on option transactions for the day. I, sincerely, think that this will be a good topic for Phd. IMO there are multiple variables to this equation.

Gary, The bid and ask size are not the number of people. It is the number of shares. They represent the shares the market maker is willing to show. Glenn
