Putting Roget's Thesaurus aside, what you are trying to say is: "I do not understand the fundamentals of Computer Science."

Is Java itself slow or is any program that tries to provide the functionality of Java inherently slow? With the hardware advancing like it is, will this even be a relevant question in five years? No one cares now that Windows was virtually unusable on a 286. What's important is that somebody effectively tackles the issue of cross-platform applications today so that software development can utilize the advances in tomorrow's hardware. Microsoft controls only the one platform so do not expect to see them promoting the concept of cross-platform development!
