In addition to the two-line feature, the i600 phone will have data transmission capabilities. The two lines could be used to differenciate voice calls from data.

It will be possible to send faxes to the i600 phones. To receive faxes you must let the voice mail (data mail?) answer the call. Then call any landline fax machine and transfer the data from your i600 phone. If you answer the data call you will hear that obnoxious squeal, thus another reason for the two lines.

BTW existing phones will be upgradable to accept data.
