You can say the same about communists: It is impossible to convert communists up to our age. It takes a new generation before the brain can be rewired, and for a society of communists, it may take several generations to convert. This is one of the reasons why Ukraine+Russia+Belorussia have a so much harder time now than the other east European countries, who only had communism since WW2. However, if you take a small child from a bronze age tribe and let it grow up on Manhattan, this child can perform just as well as any with ancestors from Manhattan.
