I had my hair cut the other day by a young woman who graduated from local public high school, one of the best in the state. She asked what I had been doing lately and I explained that I was transcribing and annotating my father's letters home from WWII in New Guinea - about 500 of them. She didn't know what I talking about save for having seen the HBO series, "The Pacific."

Amazing that still WWII is not considered history to be taught in schools. No wonder young people today don't fear loss of privacy. They have no concept of what living under an authortarian state really means, that state knowledge a persons every move is of paramount importance in the process of controlling them.
