We'll see. This is becoming a "teachable moment," as the saying goes. Let's hope he has it in him to take advantage of it. A stirring post-Labor Day speech on freedom of religion--something that many historians of the Revolution believe was the most important consequence of the Revolution--would be most welcome and politically helpful, IMO, not damaging as some people imagine.

There are plenty of historians and legal scholars out there who could help him write the speech if he needs it.

Polls are showing that more than two thirds of Americans are opposed to the building of Cordoba Initiative's cultural center on that site.

I assume you also saw the numbers from, I think, the same poll in which almost a mirror image said they thought the Cordoba folk had the right to build there.
