Boy.. wouldn't that be interesting.. The Tibetans receive the right to vote before the Chinese do..

As for N. America, at the time it was clear imperialism. It was the "fashion" of the day for various empires to expand their boundaries.

HOWEVER, in the early part of the 1900's, US policy clearly started to change towards de-colonization and independence/self-determination.

I'm still in favor of permitting people to have the right to choose their own governments because it makes those governments accountable to the will of the people (at least more than currently is the case).

So will choose poorly (like the Palestinians). But eventually they will choose wisely.

And eventually they will enjoy the same rights we cherish in the US.. To do the right thing after we've exhausted all other options.. ;0)
