Nowadays, it's the grassroots Tea Party, that focuses more on fiscal/social policy than on religious bigotry. Anyway, I expect that the GOP will have no other choice than picking a black running mate for the next presidential race, if only to defuse the accusation of racism... In 2012, US voters might no longer be eager to elect a black President --but a black Veep? If the current GOP wins in 2012, they will look for ways to dismantle this democracy. I give them ten years and they will make it happen.
