Oh, but at the Center, people have the View that they're very proud of Obama sticking up for his principles.

The Fox group this morning discussed how badly the WH has handled this. First, O's remarks were written out for Friday night and quite clear. The initial Sat morning MSM reaction was positive. Then the deluge of criticism. O panicked and tried to issue a "clarification" to a reporter on the tarmac in Florida later Sat morning that just confused it further. Then the WH finally issued a statement at 6PM Sat night stating that O stood by his Friday night speech.

They have turned this into a "circle jerk" and the Congressional Dems are running for cover. Even 70% of the independents are against the Mosque being built.

This will build and build with 911 coming up. Add this to his problems with Health care and his law suit against Arizona and it's good news for the Republicans this November.

If you don't like O! - and I detest him - it doesn't get better than this. Come November and re-election time, this may well be the one issue that does the Dems in. Healthcare and bailouts, too, of course. But those are policy issues - this one is visceral, emotional. That Michelle was taking a luxurious vacation at the same time suggests that perhaps he does not care anymore, that he realizes he is one term and that he might as well show his true colors and ambitions while he can, see what he can get away with before he is thrown out

Agreed. Not only is this a visceral, emotional issue, it is one where progressives' knees all jerk in one direction and the rest of Americas' knees all jerk in a another direction. It's a clarifying moment for the 30% - 70% progressive vs. the rest of America split that defines our current politics, and it's happening at the worst possible time for the Democrats and their ruling progressive elite.

That Obama displays no understanding or empathy for the feelings of most Americans, and lectures us for having our feelings, is the icing on the cake. If Michelle is turning into Marie Antoinette, Barack Obama is turning into Robspierre.
