Arun, like the overblown panic about the BP catastrophic calamitous cataclysm in the Gulf of Mexico which turned out to be a fizzer, the idea that Earth will end because of atomic bombs is way off the mark. <At least chimps are unlikely to destroy all earth with nuclear weapons. >

Most places would not even experience explosions and while the strontium 90 and other radioactive nuclides would be annoying, especially in the vicinity, they would barely make a dent in the overall mutation rate.

We have had a couple of atomic bombs used against people and a pretty good nuclear reactor explosion and fire as experiments. I took part in the Chernobyl experiment, fortunately at a fair distance. Being mindful of such things, I was quick to buy uncontaminated milk powder for our children and minimized other contamination. While 4 of the 6 of us have suffered cancer, two were due to too much sunshine on melanin-deficient skin and the other two were due to unknown causes, though Chernobyl was unlikely to have played much part.

Unless people get pretty good doses of radiation in the immediate vicinity, they nearly all escape. There is pretty good information from Hiroshima and Nagasaki on the long term effects of such radiation too.

Cockroaches would not be the sole survivors. Most people would survive too I guess. Many available bombs might not be exploded because those in charge of exploding them would think that there was little point in adding to the mess once it had got to a certain horrific level.

Hopefully we don't find out what the worst case could be. I'd prefer everyone stop making bombs and make OFDM/CDMA cyberspace devices instead. Look how happy TJ gets with his de-vices. He forgets about his gold and his wife when in he's in the heat of passion with his de-vice. They bring peace, light, harmony, happiness, health, prosperity, longevity, fun and love.

Don't worry about The Bomb.
