Dont fine the CIti, fine the ceo-s and ex senior mgmt, the board of directors who walked away with hundreds of millions in the case of citibank. how long is it going to take for the sec to actually do its job? Because of the opacity of investing in financials to begin with i dont see why anyone in their right mind should own equity in them unless they can feel confident in management explanations of what they have and how things are gong. Otherwise one is forever getting blindsided. Considering how much pension money is put into financials someone out there should consider jail time for management who lies if they want to have a functioning equity market.

I agree about the insider trading but the SEC needs to really crack down on companies that flat out deceive shareholders especially big banks who had their hands in the enron till and certainly played a big part in that fraud and just walked away from it with a wrist slap. and people question the accounting of chinese companies it just makes me laugh.
