very simply and I do it quite regularly, I pick two market leaders as in this case T and VZ and split my picks figuring one will out pace the other but I will participate regardless of which one leads. Then I will pick a more speculative one in the sector and roll the dice, in this case FTR, which just spun off of VZ. So there are my current three picks in telecommunications. What would cause me to change my mind. I would probably have to conclude the entire sector was out of vogue and dump all three, which I doubt would happen for a long time.

Why not a bond with capital loss potential?
