Big Buck, I have had the same thought as you regarding a major Semi manufacture buying out amat or novellus to give them a equipment production advantage. Intel, would probably would be such a company.

However, the downside would possibly be that the other companies in order to not provide their competitor (Intel) with additional revenue would probably begin doing business with amat or an other equipment manafacture. Self-interest is still a great driving force and even greater is self-distruction. :)

Big...maybe AMAT should open up a DRAM FAB or a foundry business..help they have most of the tools....I wonder if their existing customer will get pissed at them....
