re TIP - my big concern would be that in the case of rapidly rising interest rates, the TIP's get whacked too, because folks would want a higher margin to the stated inflation rate that sure would be fudged (and maybe is being already fudged).

While TIP's would not be hurt as badly as fixed coupons, they still might well go down in price.
