I wouldn't say they are wrong just because they are self interested on the question, but there isn't any good reason to accept them as an authority we would defer to either. You ever wait two hours in a cab line for a fare? I have. Ask someone trying to get a cab at night in a bad area of New York. Got nothing to do with a cab shortage. That's a shortage of cab drivers that want to get robbed/killed. Many times I deadheaded back from snarly 'hoods.
