I understand the hateful history behind the word, but geez, we're literally teaching people that they ought to be offended when they hear the word. That doesn't help racial reconciliation. That just makes people too scared to discuss sensitive issues openly. Meanwhile the ignorant, the losers, and the true racists will know exactly what buttons to push. Several years ago, there was an incident of graffiti painted all over my neighborhood.
