sig, then if you know so much about jit then give me the modern day definition of JIT on the APICS certification exam and tell me what JITII is????..by the way , I was one of the first 100 people certified in APICS in the world in the early 70's.

okay...the floors all yours..
I suggest that you go to netsearch and try to find answer because it's obvious from your post you don't have a clue as to what jit and jitii are<ggg>

sig, I'll give you a clue..would you rather streamline the process where people make 7-15 an hr..
or streamline the process of the fat cats on the business side where they pay 40-100k+.
I used streamlined becasue i didn't want to give away the real definiton of jit..
have you found it with netsearch yet....????
anyway..you have my vote for a good learner since you must be 80 and on this pc<gg>...my first job was in stockroom in 1966 and I'm 50.

They are also expanding that metric location as well, so you have to factor that. the other site has notebooks and server and dimension.
Then there is Ireland and Penang. Ireland is very large but I dont have actual numbers I think you can find in the annual report.
Good Trading.

If Dell ever decides to build a low cost computer...

Hi Sig,

You wrote, "If Dell ever decides to build a low cost computer( which they won't do soon, if ever) CPQ and other low cost manufacturers will thereafter end up with negative profit margins, and would be best to follow M.D's suggestion as to what to do with those divisions."

I strongly believe DELL cannot compete in the low cost computer, even if they want to. The biggest obstacle is shipping cost. There is no way that a customer wants to pay a $50 to $100 shipping cost for a %$700-$1000 computer system, where the shipping cost will represent almost a 10% of the computer. In other word DELL direct selling model itself has prevented DELL from entering that low cost sub 1K PC market.

That is why I must disagree with you on your statement that CPQ and other low cost manufacturer will be in the red, if DELL enter that particular segment of the market.

Good Luck to you Sig,
Bye.
