Politics as usual. Fwanks is an intellectual author of the subprime crisis due to his unwavering support of Fannie and Freddie. He turned a blind eye to their mismanagement. He also knows that F. and F. are still huge issues; they are black holes for taxpayer money. Sooner or later, voters are going to rebel in a big way. F. and F. are going to be at the top of their list. When it happens, Fwanks will be on record as being unwaveringly against them, his previous unwavering support of them conveniently forgotten. In other words, a purely political ploy. He is a typically unprincipled politico.
