Their elected representatives led by the Mayor support it. Is our democracy run on an issue-by-issue basis? We had Prop 8 here in California where majority oppose gay marriage. But our democracy does not give the majority the right to trump the fundamental values enshrined in our constitution. Or does it? Do you think Osama should be put through "due process" if he is captured even though the majority want him to be put to death? do we want to emulate AQ and their ways of summary executions?
