Back to when the talk of a GM bailout first started (or first started to be taken seriously) I, for one, have been posting about the inevitability of their eventual bankruptcy filing for two or three years now I wasn't talking about going that far back, but to the extent it was nearly inevitable they should have gotten it over with then (or taking massive steps to avoid it, if they actually had the ability to take any such steps, the debt would only go away with bankruptcy, and the labor costs (including costs for past labor) and inflexibility problems still haven't totally gone away and would have been harder to force down back then.
